I moved to Geneva within a few months of the start of the pandemic. Geneva is a small but at the same time very vibrant city with people from all over the world. Although it is a very international city, I initially had a hard time making connections with new people and feeling part of this community.
One late summer evening as I walk through La Perl du Lac Park with my camera, I hear music and sense movement behind the Museum of the History of Science. I see a group of people dancing and performing with sinuosity and grace that seem to be one element, almost like a gentle wave of the sea. A wave that gently pulls me along too as I take a few photos. It's Cap Loisirs, a foundation in Geneva that organizes creative activities with people with disabilities.
They have a magnetic connection with each other and with the audience. The simplicity and beauty of their naturally coordinated movements regenerate in me a sense of connection with the 'other'. I did not know this association and the people in it, but I felt that I belong to their community.
